Since many of users are taking their first steps into tuning world, the technical words can be a bit difficult to comprehend. So we decided to give a crash course on technical vocabulary we see used in chip tuning world.

STAGE1, what is that and what do i need to know about this as reprogrammer?

Well stage 1 can be thinked as a gateway to tuning, it is what your engine could make hp/nm within safety margins of those components that your current engine has installed on from the factory. Car makers are not after horsepower and torque and theyre interested in different areas as we tuning file users would want. So as car factoryes aim for tight market of competition by other factoryes, they aim for certain taxclass, euroclass in co2 emissions, or whatever theyre after those engines still have more potential than factoryes tell you.

In the old days factoryes even made one engine,one turbo,same set of injectors,same engineblock and still they had for example 110hp 150hp and 180hp engine models. how is this possible? well they just tuned or choked the engine capability. These days are gone,but still those engines have more potential as car makers tell you. So 140hp engine can really produce 180hp and safely, how is this possible? Well we can identify the parts and check out what those actually can handle within still being concidered safe. turbo, actually can boost more than it is set to. Injectors actually can provide more fuel than it is set to, those pistons can take a certain amount of heat more than factory tells etc.. So in this area the "magic" happens, we know how much theres headroom for improvement and we dial eveything so we can squeeze a bit more extrapower what is actually there but unused.

Stage 1 is for totally stock engine, nothing changed but maintained good condition engine.

Stage 2 allways is paired in diesel with downpipe or dpf delete. Petrol engines sportscat exhaust or completely decatted downpipe. of course you can add front mounted bigger intercooler,cold air intake,good quality exhaust and so on but its not mandatory. Tuning world is endless on aftermarketparts so the world is your oyster on these. Dive in!

Stage 3 and above requires multiple mods, bigger turbo, bigger injectors, front mounted intercooler, sports clutch to handle power and so on.. list goes on and on, but in stgfiles we stay safely on maximum stg2 level tuning.

TCU Tuning

Why to do that and what is ots 1-2?

Tcu tuning is a perfect match for your engines tuned ecu companionship. All that added poweer can be added all the way to road, faster and silkysmooth or racecar style hardshifts on automatic gearboxes. this is where tcu tuning comes in, so what we are talking actually is automatic gearboxes tuning, similar style as ecu was tuned allso. Tcu tune provides faster shifts, added responsiviness, more pressure so gearbox wont "slip" and many added features. Launch controls, dsg farts, on some models forced gears (no up/downshifts)...

Tcu ots 1 is tune for your to be paired with stage 1 level tuning on ecu side. Its a cherry on top in gearboxes for vags,bmws etc.

Tcu ots 2 is tuned more aggressive for to be paired with stg2 and over that ecu tune. Brings out the racecar quick shifts in automatic gearbox.
